Coaching and Writing Support

Work with Dr. Epps-Robertson

Whether she’s co-hosting a conference, delving into discussions on how caregiving can influence our career pathways and writing journeys, or engaging in collaborative efforts to support writers, Dr. Epps-Robertson is dedicated to helping those who believe that writing as a conduit for meaningful connections with others.

As a writer, she’s been deeply shaped by her experiences within writing communities and her roles as a caregiver to her parents, children, and partner, each with their unique needs. Balancing her writing alongside managing clinic visits for her parents, enduring hour-long commutes to and from campus, and navigating the challenges of being a Black woman on the tenure track (now tenured) has reinforced her belief in the importance of establishing sustainable writing routines that can be adapted to fit ever-changing needs.

As a coach, her approach involves active listening, posing questions, and creating reflective spaces, often through writing. She is guided by a commitment to listening and helping others navigate life challenges with care. Dr. Epps-Robertson believes coaching can provide a space for discernment, reflection, and practices that support clients in living out their values and commitments, even amid chaos.

She finds joy through engaging with various writing communities, whether it’s writing alongside students, participating in reflective writing practices during museum visits, or connecting with others through online writing groups. Though the spaces and communities differ, her commitment remains steadfast in understanding the diversity of our writing processes and how they evolve over time.

Dr. Epps-Robertson believes that a writing community should be a space that is welcoming and supportive of writers no matter where they are on their writing journey.
